Here’s our take on the brand new Insta360 Pro 2 VR Camera!

Insta360 was released somewhere around July 2017. This was nothing but a revolution in professional 360 cameras. The Insta360 Pro was unique in its ease of use and workflow. We tried our hands on the Insta360 Pro 2, a new baby of Insta360 and here’s our take on it.

1.HD Resolution and 3D. Insta360 Pro 2 can shoot 3D 360 video in high resolution . Clear , sharp and killer videos that are sure to aww your clients

2. Jet speed. The Pro 2 can shoot at 60fps in either 8K mono, or 6.7K 3D (6400 x 6400). It can also shoot at 120fps in 4K, in either 2D or 3D. Now how cool is that?

3. High dynamic range. Apart from an improved sensor with higher dynamic range, the Pro 2 comes with a new HDR mode for video, at up to 8K 30fps in 2D. The HDR mode works by taking 2 shots in quick succession and then blending them . Icing on the cake? there is now an auto exposure bracket for HDR for up to 9 exposures!!!!

4. FlowState stabilization. Stabilization is an important feature in many consumer 360 cameras but is rarely a feature for professional 360 cameras. Pro 2 solves this problem by featuring FlowState stabilization, Insta360’s advanced stabilization first used in Insta360 One

5. 8K 3D VR headset viewing. Pro 2 has a free companion app for iOS and Android to allow viewing of 8K 3D 360 video on Google Cardboard and eventually Samsung Gear VR. The app appears to use fixed foveated rendering, which means it will render only the portion that the viewer is viewing..Whoa!

The big question

Worth Upgrading?

If you already have an Insta360 Pro, is it worth upgrading to the Pro 2? The Insta360 Pro 2 is currently available for around $4999, which is approximately $1500 more than the Insta360 Pro .

Having said that, the resolution and bit rate remain the same, so you are unlikely to notice a huge different in over all video quality from your original Insta360 Pro.
