How 90 days at Startup boot-camp looked like!

They say in business you should think big. Running a business has always been a roller coaster ride and the best times happen when you achieve a new milestone !

Our milestone moment happened the day we received an email from Todd- The director of Startupbootcamp , who informed us about ScaleVR being selected as one of the top 10 startup companies to be mentored by team SBC Dubai.

As thrilled and pumped as we were, to be a part of this new journey in a brand new destination, we just couldn’t wait to pack our bags.

Flashback 17th September’18 until 11th December’18 , we’ve penned down 10 of our best experiences at SBC Dubai.

1) START FROM THE SCRATCH

A brand new destination and a brand new name. Our first few months at SBC, helped us rebrand our business . Thanks to the mentorship and business insights from team SBC! This was exactly the phase when we moved from being called Touchwizard to ScaleVRtechnologies :)

2) BEING MARKET READY

SBC helped us expand our responsibility and knowledge and learn how any business, despite challenges, can effectively get off the ground and at times even at zero cost.

The best part that we experienced is that our ideas were given a lot of importance & got implemented as well.

3) WORK- PARTY-WORK LOOP

People often say, “Work hard, party harder “and we second this thought. Every success was a celebration, from pita to hummus to Indian Biryani and of course unlimited flow of Pepsi, and pizza. Small celebrations during and after our pitch trainings helped us network and understand what other startups are doing and the most important part is its casuals every day! *YAAY*

4) SINGLE HEAD, MULTIPLE HATS

Right from designing our slides in a way that would attract the investors , to aggressive pitch training sessions , to receiving mentorship from SBC’s partners, we were expected to wear multiple hats. By the time we completed our SBC journey with a Hi-Fi title, our confidence in this new market - Dubai is simply unbeatable.

5) A CULTURE OF INNOVATION

Resourcefulness and creativity is the lifeblood of any team building activity. We did things that we had never done before or have no training in. The best and only way was to stick our neck out and try new things. We were inspired when things worked out and learned something new when they didn’t.

6) LESS HIERARCHY,MORE INTERACTION

We worked with the CEO, the investors, and everyone you could think of! Owing to its small size and general absence of hierarchy, there was nothing more rewarding than feeling excited to come into the office in the morning to tackle new challenges thrown at us.

7) PIC-TORIES

Selfies, get together, parties, groupfies and more were always never ending. The memories that we made and captured here would be reminisced forever, kind of a close-knit family. One of the areas that we are most proud of is that we have built a culture where talented people came together and made work fun.

8) BRAINSTORMING SESSION & A 360 DEGREE VIEW

Starting from receiving advice on our strategies, to execution of our ideas, Thursdays always begun with a brainstorming session as every minute detail was taken into consideration. It was a debate cum discussion to arrive at the best possible solution

9) EVERYTHING YOU GO THROUGH, GROWS YOU

Everything that we did taught us a lesson. And best of all, we often got to see results first-hand and share in the rewards and glory. We made mistakes, learned and made some new mistakes too, but eventually when our journey at SBC Dubai was about to end we were capable enough of handling responsibilities all by our self and of course delivered more than what was expected.

10) ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL

Believe it or not, this course teaches you how to successfully create a startup from scratch to a killer pitch in less than 48 hours. All in all , the whole Startupbootcamp team was very supportive and helped us to improve our pitching. We gained new angles and perspectives for our project. With our Proof of Concept, we collected tremendous amount of insights during our pitch to the mentors of Startupbootcamp Dubai. The feedback from such experienced group of people and the contacts that we met during the Selection Days are invaluable for early stage startups. This is definitely one of the best experiences a startup could ever have!
